Karachi: Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazl Pechuho ruled out detection of Monkeypox cases in Karachi.
Development follows after it emerged that three cases of Monkeypox have been reported in city.
Sindh Minister in her statement said no passenger has tested positive for Monkeypox at Karachi Airport and added that airport administration is not authorised to pass information without confirmation.
Isolation wards have also been established at Jinnah and Chankda hospital. Dr Azra advised not to spread news about Monkeypox cases without confirmation. Earlier it emerged that Pakistan detected three more suspected cases of Monkeypox in people who travelled to country from abroad.
According to sources, all three passengers arrived in Karachi on two different flights from UAE on April 26 and they were having symptoms of infectious disease.

After Monkeypox cases, hospitals across Sindh were put on high alert and authorities issued directives to establish isolation areas for suspected patients.
Director General Health Services Sindh issued directives to all government hospitals to establish 5 to 10-bed isolation areas for Monkeypox patients.
Health Ministry’s spokesperson said that health regulations are being implemented at all airports and Border and Health Services institution is keeping a close eye on situation.
