Sindh govt to ensure timely completion of Karachi mega projects: Saeed Ghani

KARACHI: Sindh Local Government Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said the provincial government will ensure the timely completion of the ongoing mega development projects in Karachi as any hindrance in this regard will be speedily removed.

The Local Government Minister stated this on Thursday while inspecting the under-construction Korangi Causeway project. Ghani was accompanied by the Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister, Waqar Mehdi.

The Local Government Minister was given a briefing about the ongoing uplift scheme by Karachi Mega Projects Director Syed Abbas Ali Shah and Deputy Project Director Korangi Causeway Engineer Junaid Ahmed Siddiqui.

The officials concerned briefed the Local Government Minister that Korangi Causeway is 1.4 kilometres-long project and over 40 per cent of its work has been completed. The project will be completed by June 2025.

Ghani was briefed in detail about the problems being faced in completing the project and the plan to merge it with Malir Expressway.

He mentioned that the project’s length would be extended from 1.4 kilometres to four kilometres if it was merged with the Malir Expressway. It was decided on the occasion that soon, the project director would brief the Sindh Chief Minister on the problems being faced in completing the project and the plan to merge Korangi Causeway with Malir Expressway.

The Sindh government will ensure speedy release of funds if a decision is reached to merge Korangi Causeway with Malir Expressway to ensure maximum facilitation of the people.
