Sindh govt to compensate owners of cars torched on May 9

KARACHI: Sindh government decided to compensate owners of vehicles torched in May 9 riots in Karachi. On May 9, motorcycles and a car had been torched by rioters on Shah-rahe-Faisal during protests against arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan.
Sindh government’s spokesperson Murtaza Wahab announced that new motorcycles will be given to affected owners. He said that affected motorcycle owners should share details of their vehicles with police.
Earlier in month, Sindh government had approved construction of houses to resettle affected people of three nullahs in Malir Development Authority area. Approval was granted in Cabinet meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in chair. It was informed during meeting that 6,500 houses will be constructed for affectees which will cost an amount of Rs 9.42 billion.
