Sindh govt forms JIT into M6 Motorway land scam

KARACHI: Sindh government formed Joint Investigation Team (JIT) into Rs 3.61 billion land acquisition scam regarding construction of M6 Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway. According to notification issued by Secretary Interior Sindh, JIT will be headed by Chairman Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh.
Probe team has been directed to submit report within 10 days after completing inquiry, notification said. Meanwhile, premier anti-graft body of country National Accountability Bureau has started its own investigations into mega-corruption scandal. Anti-graft watchdog has summoned record details of Naushahro Feroze Deputy Commissioner Tashfeen Alam, who was involved in suspicious transactions of over Rs 2 billion funds meant for acquiring land for Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project.
Anti-corruption authority has also sought record of revenue officials belonging to Shaheed Benazirabad and Sukkur divisions. Earlier, FIA recommended putting names of accused of M-6 fund misappropriation in exit control list. Federal Investigation Agency Sindh in letter to FIA Immigration Islamabad has recommended to keep names of accused in Motorway M-6 funds scam in ECL.
