Sindh Energy Minister directs KE Chief to redress public grievances sans delay

KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh said that water supply and sewage pumping stations should be exempted from load-shedding. Presiding over high level meeting at energy department he said that load shedding increased in city despite arrival of winter.

Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Senator Yusuf Baloch, Energy Secretary Abu Bakar Madani, Chief Executive Officer of K Electric Monis Alvi and other officers attended meeting. Participants lodged several complaints against power utility and demanded immediate end to load shedding. Energy minister said that duration of load shedding in Karachi had reached 10 to 14 hours. “Consumers’ complaints are not addressed,” he added. Imtiaz Shaikh told KE Chief that said that people asked public representative to resolve issue of loadshedding in city. “We are answerable to public,” he added.

He said that K Electric should immediately redress public grievances.  KE Chief was also directed to set up camps in different areas for immediate solution of problems of citizens. Power utility was also urged to reduce period of load shedding and devise mechanism for complaints of excessive billing to create convenience for consumers.
