Sindh announces to set up Counter Terrorism Quick Response Unit

KARACHI: Sindh Police announced to set up Counter Terrorism Quick Response Unit following militant attack at Karachi police office (KPO). According to details, Counter-Terrorism Department is considering to train as many as 100 officials for commando training as measure in wake of recent militant attacks across Pakistan.

CTD officials said that Pakistan Bahria’s Special Service Group (SSG) will be appointed to train group of 25 individuals this month. CTD spokesman added that CTD Commando Group will be first to respond in case of any terror attack reported across province.

This step is being initiated in backdrop of as earlier Rangers and police teams frustrated armed attack on Karachi Police Office (KPO). Rangers’ spokesperson said that quick response force (QRF) of paramilitary troops surrounded KPO building and took their positions. Three terrorists were killed in joint operation of police and Rangers at KPO which continued for around four hours.
