KARACHI: Aafia Movement Pakistan appealed to nation and prayer leaders for special prayers in ongoing holy month of Ramadhan for early release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

In statement Aafia Movement spokesman Muhammad Ayub said that March 30, 2003 was black day in history of Pakistan when innocent Aafia Siddiqui was kidnapped along with her three minor children, trafficked to Afghanistan and illegally handed over to officials of USA. He said that two decades have already passed to this shameful act of human trafficking and illegal detention of Dr Aafia Siddiqui but no justice is as yet doled out to this innocent victim of human trafficking. He said silence of Pakistani and US political leadership to this inhuman crime is just more shameful. He said during last two decades Dr Aafia has endured worst torture in US detention facilities.

He said in January 2023, noted British human rights lawyer Clive Safford Smith, who is an American citizen also met with Dr Aafia and as per his report physical and mental health of Dr Aafia Siddiqui is worrisome. He said political and economic conditions of Pakistan have worried every citizen.
