Sikh pilgrims from India join Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary celebrations

LAHORE: Three thousand Sikh pilgrims who have arrived here via Wagah joined 554th birth anniversary celebrations in Nankana Sahib.
Three-day celebrations commenced on Saturday and Sikhs from India will be taken to Farooqabad by special buses amid tight security to pay homage to founder of Sikh religion.
They will be brought back in evening and stay here at Gurudwara Janam Asthan.
Celebrations which started on Saturday with ritual of Akhandpat will conclude on Monday with Bhog. Nagar Keertan rally will also be taken out today.
Meanwhile, pilgrims met caretaker interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi here. They thanked caretaker Chief Minister for hospitality and arrangements for pilgrims.
They were grateful to Pakistan government for care it takes to protect and preserves Sikh holy sites. DPO Saaed Aziz is heading 3,000 strong force who is performing security duty in Nankana Sahib and surrounding areas.
Government makes special arrangements for birth and death anniversary of Guru Nanak as his birth place (janam asthan) and eternal resting site (samadhi) are in Pakistan.
