SIC, FUUAST agree to promote right to information at moot

KARACHI: Sindh Information Commission (SIC) and Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST)'s Mass Communication Department agreed to make concerted efforts to further promote and create awareness among masses regarding right to information.

Speakers of a seminar on 'Right to Information' at Mass Communication Department Abdul Haq Campus agreed.

Chief Commissioner Sindh Information Commission Nusrat Hussain said that government institutions and officials should not afraid of questions raised by public, instead they should adopt approach to respond in accordance with Constitution. He said that raising questions by people is a democratic process, it strengthens democracy in society. He said that way to end corruption is linked to right to information. Legal Expert Dr. Murtaza Khoro former President of Mass Communication Department Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Khan, In-charge of Mass Communication Department Dr. Masroor Khanum and others also spoke. Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Khan said that department of Mass Communication has honour that it first organised an international conference to spread awareness on freedom of expression.  He said that people have right to elect their representatives in a democratic system and hold them accountable. 

Dr. Murtaza Khoro said that if only 40 percent of resources available in Pakistan are spent on public welfare, then a great positive change can be seen in conditions of people.
