Shura Hamdard pays tribute to public services of Hakim Said

KARACHI: Meeting of Shura Hamdard Karachi was convened at Hamdard Corporate Head Office on ‘Respect for Humanity in light of thoughts of Shaheed-e-Pakistan Hakim Mohammed Said.’ Meeting was presided over by Sadia Rashid President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan. Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan addressing gathering, emphasised that Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said was chosen individual and to promote health and education in our country. Such exceptional individuals emerge once in centuries.

He said that mere remembering of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said’s birth and martyrdom could not suffice. To honour his legacy, we must diligently follow his teachings and pursue his objectives. He was devout Muslim with profound understanding of value of time.

Deputy Speaker of Shura Hamdard, Colonel (retd) Mukhtar Ahmad Butt said perpetrators of Shaheed Pakistan’s murder were never brought to justice, stain on our national conscience. Hakim Mohammed Said understood fundamental principle of respecting humanity, which extended beyond providing financial support to widows, disabled and students. His vision encompassed establishment of enduring institutions that continue to impart knowledge and skills to new generation, alongside offering accessible medical services on large scale. Furthermore, he established institutions like Shura Hamdard Forum to guide country and its people toward path of progress. Let us pray Allah elevates his status. Ameen.

Zafar Iqbal emphasised that Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said was an outstanding embodiment of national unity, free from any regional, linguistic, religious, or ethnic biases. In all provinces, Shaheed established top-tier educational institutes and provided healthcare facilities, dedicated to education and well-being of fellow countrymen. In acknowledgment of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said’s invaluable contributions to children’s future and health through education, he was conferred title of ‘Quaid Naunehal’ by Defense Society, an honour he graciously accepted, bringing pride to us all.

Prof Dr. Hakim Abdul Hanan said that he had privilege of being under mentorship and guidance of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said at start of his career in September 1970. Shaheed’s interaction with his colleagues was marked by kind and scholarly demeanor. Hakim Said imparted knowledge with great courtesy and politeness, always offering gentle guidance and encouragement on various matters. Such fine embodiment of humanity’s grace is truly unparalleled. He excelled as an outstanding teacher and remarkable administrator.

Khalid Naseem, told gathering that Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said was an exceptional physician. “Hakim Mohammed Said once treated my ear ailment during my early years. Since then, I have never experienced that condition again. Meanwhile, top doctors at that time recommended nasal surgery for me,” he said.

Prof Dr. Khalida Ghous emphasised that commemorating significant days associated with remarkable individuals fosters patriotism within nation. She said, “Ideas of Shaheed Pakistan serve as guiding light for our entire nation. It is advisable to establish dedicated chairs in private sector universities, honouring prominent national figures. This would encourage younger generation to conduct research and familiarize themselves with contributions and endeavours of these outstanding personalities.”

Prof Dr. Ikhlaq Ahmed advised youth that they should study biographies of national heroes such as Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, Liaquat Ali Khan and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. This would enable them to establish principles and serve them as guidance for their bright future. It is important to embrace and follow teachings of such notable figures.
