Shortage of Covid testing kits at Karachi Airport

KARACHI: A shortage of Covid testing kits at Karachi Airport has increased threat of spread of new variant of virus in Pakistan. Covid tests have been declared mandatory for passengers landing in Pakistan from Saudi Arabia and South Africa amid fear of Covid cases fear.
As per details, rapid antigen covid tests are delayed due to shortage of Covid testing kits at Airport.
Sources said that Health Ministry is not providing Covid testing kits to staff deputed at Karachi Airport.
Earlier this week, National Institute of Health Islamabad and National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said Pakistan is fully ready to cope with expected new wave of Covid variant.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider chaired session of National Command and Operation Centre.
Officials of NIH Islamabad and the NCOC gave briefing to NDMA Chairman regarding country’s preparations to cope with challenge of any new wave of Covid endemic.
