Lahore: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former Minister Shireen Mazari and former Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hasan Chohan announced they would be leaving party.
Speaking to media in Islamabad, Mazari said that she is leaving politics because of her children and family. Mazari added, “I condemned events that took place on May 9 and 10. I have condemned all forms of disorder.” She said that during her 12-day arrest, her health and daughter Imaan Mazari have suffered significantly, which is why she has decided to quit politics. “I am leaving politics because of my children, family and health issues. My family and children are my first priority,” she reiterated.
Fayyazul Chohan speaking to reporters here lamented over what he describes as party’s growing “Policy of violence”, stating his disappointment with party Chief Imran Khan for not advising against use of force in politics. “I am announcing that I have no association with PTI. I am not leaving politics,” Chohan told reporters. Chohan, who claimed he had been sidelined within party for over year said that he had tried multiple times to steer PTI Chief and party leadership towards more peaceful approach to politics, championing principles of Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Imran Khan was still respectable for him. He was continually disrespected and overlooked for ministerial positions and party ticket, despite his loyalty to PTI.
