SHIKARPUR: Under the direction of the Sindh Ministry of Prisons and following the guidance of Haji Ali Hassan Zardari, the Shikarpur Jail has been transformed into a reform center.

A new educational facility has been established within the jail, featuring a computer lab aimed at providing digital education to inmates. According to officials, SP Shikarpur Jail, Engineer Abdul Qadeer Palijo, has initiated several improvements since assuming office. He emphasized that the primary goal of establishing the reform center is to provide inmates with higher and modern education, equipping them with essential skills for reintegration into society. Additionally, in compliance with directives from the Sindh Ministry of Prisons, SP Shikarpur has tightened security measures within the jail. The number of check posts has been increased to maintain law and order. The SP stated, “Providing better facilities to both the public and inmates is among our top priorities, and we are taking comprehensive measures in this regard.”

These initiatives are part of broader reforms aimed at improving the conditions within Sindh’s prisons, focusing on the education and training of inmates to enhance their rehabilitation process. Officials believe such programs will play a crucial role in bringing about positive changes in the lives of prisoners. The reforms not only seek to educate inmates but also demonstrate a commitment to upholding their human rights. This reform center will offer inmates opportunities to learn various skills, potentially leading to significant improvements in their lives. Ultimately, these new initiatives at Shikarpur Jail provide a beacon of hope for the betterment of inmates and raise expectations for similar programs to be implemented in other prisons as well.
