ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman reiterated on Friday that the elections should be held on time. Expressing her views, Sherry made it clear that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) wanted the timely elections in the country.
Speaking about the torture of the teenage maid Rizwana, Sherry said: "So far, no court has taken notice of the incident of Rizwana's torture". She lamented that the teenage girl was subjected to "torture by the civil judge's family".
Last week, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi said his party's position was that elections should be held within 60 days.
Addressing a public gathering, Kundi asserted: "Nine million people are being helped through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). Under the BISP, poor families are provided Rs 9,000 each". He recounted the role played by the PPP leadership, saying, "The party is having a rich history of sacrifices for the sake of the country". "The PPP leadership and workers had always opposed politics based on lies", maintained Kundi.
