Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Chairman Bank Alfalah pledges $10m for flood relief efforts

Karachi: Bank Alfalah’s Chairman Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan and Board of Directors have approved that Bank Alfalah will contribute to flood relief efforts ongoing in Pakistan. They have approved a fund amounting to 10 million dollars to help with extensive aid and rescue work required across country. 

Pledged amount will be distributed by Bank Alfalah for flood relief activities including donations through selected NGOs and organisations to provide immediate relief and a substantial amount will be earmarked for infrastructure rebuilding in medium to long term to help affected areas attain normalcy. 

Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan who has always been a great supporter of Pakistan, expressed his sadness at calamity that has recently overwhelmed country. He prays that Almighty Allah bestows respite and relief to people of Pakistan in these trying times. He acknowledged that no amount of money is enough in face of such devastation and irreversible loss, he was hopeful that this contribution will serve as a catalyst to partially alleviate suffering of victims. Board also asked to ensure all Bank employees and their families affected by torrential floods are adequately looked after. Board has instructed Bank to earmark funds to specifically address needs of staff and their families. Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah thanked Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan and Board of Directors. He assured Board that pledged funds would go towards saving lives and rebuilding communities.
