Shehnaz Sheikh has expressed gratitude for absence of social media during her era in entertainment industry.
In an interview with BBC, Sheikh reminisced about bygone days, highlighting stark differences in privacy and information accessibility between then and now. Sheikh remarked that contemporary individuals cannot fathom openness with which she and her peer's navigated life.
She acknowledged intrusive nature of social media, which erodes privacy but also inundates users with vast amounts of information.
Despite this, she confessed to enjoying use of social media and admitted that she has become reliant on it. Sheikh disclosed modest remuneration she received for her work in hit drama serials such as 'An Kahi' and 'Tanhaiyaan.'
She revealed that she earned mere 800 rupees per episode for 'Un Kahi,' which was considered substantial salary at time. Sheikh lamented prevalence of themes centered on crying and conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law dynamics.
She attributed this trend to audience preferences, suggesting that viewers' appetite for emotional content influences storytelling choices in modern dramas.
