PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the significance of the February 8 elections in Pakistan, expressing confidence in securing victory under Nawaz Sharif's leadership, who aims for a historic fourth term as prime minister.
He highlighted the achievements during Nawaz's previous tenure, citing the restoration of peace in Karachi and resolving prolonged power outages post-2013 elections.
Shehbaz credited Nawaz for addressing terrorism and recalled the developmental projects undertaken across Pakistan during his tenure. Stressing the crucial link between political stability and national progress, Shehbaz asserted that stability is essential for prosperity.
He underscored the rejuvenation of party members, supporters, and voters following Nawaz's return, a move demanded by both senior leaders and grassroots members due to dissatisfaction with the coalition government's performance.
In recent parliamentary board meetings, aspirants from Peshawar, Kohat, and Dera Ismail Khan divisions were interviewed for party tickets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for both national and provincial assemblies. However, candidate names have yet to be disclosed amid internal negotiations and potential seat adjustments.
Similar delays persist nationwide as the PML-N has not disclosed candidates' names from any region. Talks among political entities like JUI-F, PML-N, PPP, and ANP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are stalling due to negotiations over national and provincial seats, particularly in the densely populated Peshawar valley.
