SHC turns down plea seeking ban on Joyland

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected plea seeking ban on Saim Sadiq’s Joyland movie. Petitioner in his plea maintained that “film contains highly objectionable material” and its release is against violation of Article 227 of Constitution. Applicant pleaded with court to cancel license and censorship certificate of movie.
“Did you have seen movie,” SHC Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh inquired plea. “You have not seen movie and approached court for ban,” SHC Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh said and rejected plea seeking ban on movie. A similar petition was filed in Lahore High Court on November 29 against screening of Saim Sadiq’s Joyland movie.
