KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) turned down bail plea of policeman involved in ‘fake’ police encounter that claimed life of youth in 2021. Policemen are booked in Sheeraz murder case at New Town Police Station.

Youth named Sheeraz lost his life in 2021 after losing too much blood during policemen torture, according to prosecution. Sheeraz was not allowed to visit hospital by cops which resulted in his death on spot, prosecution said.

Cop Abdul Qadir pleaded with SHC for bail in encounter case, but it was rejected. Court also directed trial court to decide on case within two months. Number of police encounters had been reported in city, which later turned fake after investigation. In separate action, four policemen were arrested in fake encounter case in which they opened fire on young man in Karachi. Senior Superintendent Police Central Maroof Usman took timely action after fake encounter that took place in Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan Police Station limit.
