SHC orders to take down billboards, hoardings across Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) directed authorities concerned to ensure implementation of Supreme Court order regarding removal of all billboards and hoardings from public properties across Karachi. Orders were passed by SHC Justice Irfan Saadat while hearing plea against billboards and hoardings in city.
SHC while ordering Sindh government, KMC and cantonment boards to remove billboards and hoardings from public properties sought a report on November 15.
Action would be taken against government officials who fail to comply with court orders, Justice Saadat remarked. During hearing, SHC observed that on October 17, 2018, Supreme Court ordered removal of billboards and hoardings from public properties including overhead bridges, service lines and pedestrians, but orders were not implemented completely.
An apex court bench, headed by then CJP Justice Gulzar Ahmed had given order while hearing a case pertaining to illegal installation of billboards on public and private properties as well as roads across metropolis.
