KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) in Karachi has mandated the removal of billboards from private properties within 15 days, aligning with a prior Supreme Court (SC) directive. The SC had instructed action against officials permitting billboard ads and the removal of hoardings from private spaces.
During a petition hearing opposing billboard removal, the SHC instructed the Mayor of Karachi and Deputy Commissioners to dismantle billboards and ads from public spaces within the same 15-day period. Additionally, it urged all cantonment boards and the private sector to comply with the SC's orders.
The court's ruling tasked the Sindh Inspector-General of Police with executing these orders and initiating legal action against officials involved in permitting billboard ads.
The SHC adjourned the hearing until January 18, requesting reports within 15 days from the Mayor of Karachi, deputy commissioners, and cantonment boards.
