KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) upheld its decision on Monday regarding the action against placing banners and flags on public properties.
The court issued these orders during the hearing of a plea concerning the placement of banners and billboards on public places and government buildings. The SHC affirmed its stance to initiate cases against political leaders and company CEOs involved in placing banners and billboards on public properties.
The high court has requested a report from the Election Commission of Pakistan, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and others by February 6. In a previous session, a division bench, led by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, questioned the provincial law officer, KMC, and others about the removal of billboards from public properties. The Cantonment Board Clifton reported the removal of all billboards from its jurisdiction, while a Malir Cantonment Board official clarified that no permission was granted for billboard installation on any public property. However, the KMC did not submit a response to the petition.
