Sharjeel Memon hands over cheque of Rs50 million grant to KPC

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon handed over cheque of annual grant of Rs 50 million to Karachi Press Club (KPC) on behalf of Sindh government. President KPC Fazil Jamili and General Secretary Rizwan Bhatti received cheque. Secretary Information Abdul Rasheed Solangi, Director Admin Information Muhammad Yusuf Kaburu were also present. Minister said that annual grant would help in welfare of journalists and improving facilities in Club. Issue of allotting plots to remaining members of Press Club would also be resolved soon, he added.
Pakistan Peoples' Party has always taken practical measures for welfare of journalists, he said adding that Sindh Cabinet has approved Commission for Protection of Journalists and Media Practitioners other day after which Sindh has become only province in country, which has formed a commission for protection of journalists.
He said that Justice retired Rashid A. Rizvi, a person of excellent reputation has been selected as chairman of commission. He maintained that establishment of commission would provide protection to journalists and media workers. He said that PPP Sindh government was focused on improving the infrastructure of city of Karachi and major projects have been completed in sectors of transport, municipal services, health and education while work on several projects was in progress.
