Sharjeel lays tribute to labourers as PPP consider them proud asset

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon paid rich tribute to labourers movement and said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party is party of workers and peasants. Labourers of country are proud assets of Pakistan Peoples’ Party. Sharjeel Memon in his message on International Labour Day said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party had taken historic steps for welfare of labourers.

He said that Party had introduced all  pro-labour policies in country. ‘From Shaheed Bhutto to Shaheed Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto, from former President Asif Ali Zardari to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, welfare of labourers and peasants remained among top priorities of PPP, ‘ he said.

Minister said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto provided protection to workers by giving first labour policy of country.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari devolved powers of labour institutions to provinces under 18th Amendment. He remarked that after 18th amendment, Sindh government has enacted remarkable legislation, which cannot be seen in other provinces.

He said that Sindh government has increased representation of laborers in SESSI , provided protection to women working in agriculture sector and also enacted legislation for protection of domestic workers.

He said Sindh Government  launched Benazir Bhutto Mazdoor Card so as to ensure workers’ welfare in transparent way. Memon added that they are proud that Pakistan Peoples’ Party is representative party of workers and peasants. He reiterated resolve to continue taking measures for welfare of labourers.
