Sharjeel asks KE to gear up shifting of installations from Red Line corridor

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Memon directed Karachi administration to remove all encroachments from BRT Red Line project corridor within 7 days while K-Electric was instructed to fast-track transfer of utility installations from route. Chairing a meeting regarding BRT Red Line project with officials of utility companies including K Electric here, he expressed discontentment over delay in transfer of utilities by power entity and said that BRT Red Line was an important public interest project and any delay in project could not be tolerated.
Transport department was working day and night for timely completion of public transport projects and K-Electric should also fulfill its obligation in time for completion of important project, he added. He directed Secretary Transport, Commissioner Karachi and CEO Trans Karachi to hold meeting with CEO K-Electric next day to resolve issue of transfer of all installations. He called for appointment of project manager by K Electric for BRT Red Line Project and said that project manager should speed up work of shifting installation of K Electric from Red Line Corridor.
He directed Trans Karachi to ensure provision of better diversion routes made on under-construction Red Line project so that citizens do not suffer. Secretary Transport Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon, CEO Trans Karachi Wasif Ijlal, K Electric's Munir Ahmed Sheikh, representatives of PTCL, Sui Southern Gas Company and others attended meeting.
