RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed urged President Arif Alvi to use his constitutional powers as coalition government is running away from holding fresh elections in country.
The 72-year-old politician, who served as Interior Minister during PTI government is fully supporting Imran Khan’s demand for elections in country. In a statement on Twitter, he said that PTI Chief Imran Khan kept his word by announcing date for dissolution of assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Apart from it, it is fact that public was fed up with political uncertainty, he said.
People shied away from investing in country as “Dacoits” were ruling, he said, adding “Country is in grip of inflation and terrorism and they [government] are running away from elections.”
Meanwhile, AMP Chairman also called on President Alvi and both discussed political and other issues being faced by country.
