RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League Chief and former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said man who boasted of giving relief to poor by selling his clothes has fled to London after plunging them in agony.
In his message on social networking website X, he wrote that earlier they claimed credit for agreement with International Monetary Fund, saying it was result of Bilawal's more than 50 foreign visits. Shehbaz Sharif used to say that he met IMF head thrice to conclude deal, he added.
"And now, he [Shehbaz] says that he doesn't know what's going on with poor in Pakistan," Rasheed wrote. "This is same Shehbaz Sharif who used to talk about giving relief to poor by selling his clothes and through free distribution of flour and sugar. But he has fled to London by putting public in trouble, [but not before] closing all his NAB and money laundering cases," he continued.
Rasheed said [ex-Finance Minister] Ishaq Dar who boasted that he would depreciate dollar below Rs 200 had also reunited with his guru [master] in London. He said electricity bills of masses be paid from Rs 100 million given to each parliamentarian by Shehbaz Sharif in name of development work.
They remained in power for 16 months and were responsible for all afflictions plaguing nation, but were blaming caretakers, he stated. "Now they are shedding crocodile's tears. Contracts signed by PML-N with IPPs were based on use of imported fuel for electricity generation. It set up [coal-powered] plant in Sahiwal [in 2017 that's using local coal] and nation was paying its price even today," former Minister noted.
"We are not using electricity, but paying manufacturers under contract by robbing poor through bills," Rasheed concluded.
