Rawalpindi: At least seven terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral district.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces killed seven terrorists during an exchange of fire with security forces in Ursoon area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral district. ISPR said that another six terrorists were critically injured during intense exchange of fire. Sanitisation of area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in area.

“Locals of area appreciated operation by security forces and expressed their full support to eliminate menace of terrorism from country,” it read.

Earlier in day, caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani confirmed that Pakistan has issued demarche to Afghanistan following terrorist attack on two military posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lower Chitral district.

“Pakistan registered strong protest over incident, summoned Afghan charge d’affaires and handed over protest note (demarche) to him,” Foreign Minister said while addressing press conference here. Caretaker Minister hoped that Afghan government would suppress all such elements, whether it is ‘Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or others.’
