Islamabad: Former chief selector of Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim, has voiced his criticism of the Pakistan Cricket Board's strategy to rest five senior players at the same time during a series against a full-strength Afghanistan team in Sharjah last month.
During an interview with a local media news channel, Wasim expressed his support for the notion of resting senior players, but he also added that it should be carried out through a proper policy instead of abruptly benching the top five players. The 44-year-old further stated that home series presents the best opportunity to give younger players a chance and rest the senior players, and that the New Zealand series would have been a more fitting occasion for this.
“In my opinion, your home series is the best occasion to try your youngsters and rest your senior.
