ISLAMABAD: Senator Ishaq Dar took oath as Minister at a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr here. President Arif Alvi administered him oath. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Cabinet members were also present.

President Arif Alvi shook hands with Ishaq Dar after oath was administered and congratulated him. He has taken oath as FM when country is crisis ridden on economic front. He remained finance minister three times in past. During his previous incumbency as FM rupee did not slide and it witnessed stability. After taking oath Ishaq Dar reached his office in ministry of finance.

Talking to media men he said all know where national economy stood when PML-N left government. Pakistan economy was robust despite three Dharnas were staged.

He held I don’t want to go into details what happened in previous years. Everything was left open. Devastation of rupee led to inflation in country and interest rate surged to 14 percent from 13 percent. PDM government cannot correct within five months the destruction caused in last about 4 years.

Doubtlessly we are facing mammoth challenges at present. But will try to counter them fully.

“This is a big lie that we threw dollars in market in past and controlled rupee value. Where were dollars which we could have thrown? Give us time, he said adding all things are interconnected.

He declared no one will be allowed to play with currency of Pakistan. Such things are incomprehensible to hundi walas and speculators. When dollar appreciates by one rupee then debt burden on Pakistan scales up by Rs 110 billion. We will control situation like past.
