Senator Azam Swati arrested, handed over to police on two days physical remand

ISLAMABAD: PTI leader and Senator Azam Swati has been arrested and handed over to police on physical remand for two days in controversial tweets case. Sources said Azam Swati was taken into custody by FIA cyber crimes over night on matter of his controversial tweets. Azam Swat is facing charges of giving statements against institutions and inciting people.

Sources disclosed Azam Swati name is included in prohibited funding case. He remained under investigation in another case of cyber crime. However it has not been confirmed so far he has been arrested in which case. On other hand family members of Azam Swati have contacted lawyers and contacts are being  made in regard to what destination he has been shifted after arrest. Azam Swati was presented in court of senior civil judge Shabbir Bhatti after his arrest.

FIA requested court to grant 7 days physical remand of Azam Swati. Counsels for Azam Swati took plea in court their client has been arrested on political grounds. He was subjected to severe torture till late night. Court handed over him to police on two days physical remand. Court ordered that medical check up of Azam Swati be got conducted in PIMS immediately. FIA took away Azam Swati to PIMS. Talking to media men Azam Swati said "I have not violated law and Constitution. I have been arrested by FIA. He alleged that he has been tortured by agencies. They have arrested me on making a tweet.
