Senator Amir Chishti lauds CPSP’s commendable efforts

KARACHI: A visit of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health, Regulations and Coordination was held at College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Karachi under the Chairmanship of Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti.

At the outset, the Chairman, Standing Committee welcomed all the Senators and faculty members of the CPSP. Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal warmly welcomed all the Members of the Standing Committee to CPSP. Thereafter, he gave a comprehensive briefing on the College’s rigorous and standardized training programs and examination processes.  He highlighted CPSP’s ongoing commitment to strengthening postgraduate medical education both nationally and internationally, including collaborations with institutions in the UK and Ireland under the “brain gain” concept, as noted by the World Health Organization. Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, DG Medical Education highlighted CPSP’s efforts in introduction of innovations and assessment, revamping research workshops, establishment of simulation center and department of artificial intelligence. The Senior Vice-President, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal on behalf of CPSP requested the honorable members of the committee to facilitate and support the CPSP in strengthening of its overseas relationship and due place specially in the middle east.

The Chairman, Standing Committee, Senator Mr. Amir Waliuddin Chishti praised CPSP’s commendable efforts, acknowledging its significant contribution to the country’s medical education sector. He emphasized the importance of continuous improvement and assured the Senate’s full support for the College’s initiatives. Senator Mr. Irfan ul Haque Siddiqui highlighted CPSP’s achievements and emphasized the need to maintain high standards in undergraduate medical training. Senator Anusha Rehman Ahmed Khan and Senator Masroor Ahsan expressed their appreciation for CPSP’s efforts. Senator Anusha also commended CPSP’s stringent examination criteria and its focus on ethical training for doctors. Senator Muhammad Humayun stressed the importance of research in medical education. The Chairman and the members of the Standing Committee assured full support to the college in maintaining quality and standards in the medical education and research in the country and quality service delivery. The visit concluded with Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal presenting souvenirs to the Senate members. In the end, Standing Committee visited different departments of the College.  The Senate delegation included Senator Mr. Amir Waliuddin Chishti (Chairperson), Senator Mr. Irfan Ul-Haque Siddiqui, Senator Anusha Rehman Ahmed Khan, Senator Masroor Ahsan, Senator Muhammad Humayun, Senator Liaquat Khan Tarakai, Senator Fauzia Arshad. Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Senior Vice President CPSP, along with Treasurer Prof. Muhammad Masroor, Director General of Medical Education (DGME) Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, and councilors Prof. Khalid Ashrafi, Prof. Ambreen Afzal, and Prof. Abdullah Muttaqi, Secretary CPSP, Prof Irshad Waheed and Registrar Prof. Abdul Razzaq, Mr. Ali Naqvi, Consultant, Standing Committee on National Health Services, Dr. Shabana Saleem (Director General Health) and Mr Muhammad Saleem (Joint Secretary) were also in attendance.
