Security of Chinese in province discussed, IG Ghulam Memon chairs meeting

Karachi: A meeting IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memonin chair reviewed security of CPEC/non-CPEC and other Chinese residents, overall law and order situation and necessary measures in this connection.

IG Sindh said that number of Chinese experts/residents are associated with CPEC and other projects in Sindh. There is need to provide security on movement of Chinese residents in Sindh. Police should be informed about residential places and get regular awareness besides keep in touch with Chinese Consulate.

During meeting, DIGSPU/CPEC gave detailed briefing on number of ongoing CPEC/non-CPEC/other projects in Sindh and Chinese security measures associated with them. Installation of CCTV cameras at locations and keeping check on them from time to time along with briefing of officers and men on security duties and keeping them alert at all times should also be ensured. He said that implementation of security plan prepared regarding security of Chinese working on CPEC/Non-CPEC projects in province should be made possible on basis of police priority and in this context, all stakeholders should be involved in police at all levels. Cooperation should also be ensured. IG Sindh gave instructions that travel/movement of Chinese experts/staff engaged in completion of various projects in Sindh should be secured and in this regard relevant zones, ranges and districts should be in communication with each other as well as with Motorway Police. Facilitate measures such as periodic meetings.

Additional IGs, Karachi, Special Branch, DIGs, Headquarters Sindh, S&ESD, SPU/CPEC, IT, South, East, West and AI of Operations, Admin, Logistics Sindh were present in meeting. Jeez and SP Foreigners Security Cell in person while DIGs of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, SBA, Larkana and Sukkur participated through video link.
