Security measures intact ahead of elections in Sindh: Interim Minister

Karachi: Interim Minister of information Sindh, President Arts Council Karachi Ahmed Shah expressed gratitude to media for continuously providing coverage and keeping everyone informed about current situation. In meetings with commissioners and officials from all districts in Larkana, including all DCs and officials from all departments, Sukkur and Hyderabad discussions were held on election.
Clear instructions were given to ensure transparent elections. No one will be allowed to take law into their own hands on Election Day. There is zero-tolerance policy regarding display of weapons. Those caught displaying weapons will be arrested and FIRs will be lodged against them. Temporary polling stations are being set up in sensitive areas and ballot papers have been delivered to district headquarters. Addressing range of critical issues he highlighted presence of high-ranking officials from all agencies, emphasising establishment of control rooms in each division’s headquarters. He underscored importance of Information Department activating Election Cell from today, ensuring that all news related to elections in Sindh is disseminated through this platform. Moreover, he assured continuous presence of medical staff and completion of military deployments. Collaboration between police, Rangers and military has been prioritised, with strict directives issued for complete protection of ballot papers upon their return. Sensing significance of sensitive districts, he emphasised heightened vigilance in these areas. Expressing concerns over potential terrorist activities, he revealed intelligence indicating plans by some individuals, asserting readiness to tackle any such incidents effectively. Intelligence operations have been completed in vulnerable areas, targeting drug money financing terrorist activities. With Pakistan’s armed forces, government and agencies united on single front, he stressed that vigilance would persist not only on Election Day but also in post-election period. He addressed reports of an attack on Zulfiqar Ali Shah, stating that while initial reports suggested grave situation, further details revealed no physical harm, only damage to vehicle due to firing. He urged all political leaders to focus on serving underprivileged beyond mere success formulas.
