Science & Technology Ministry inquires PSQCA about officers holding multiple positions

KARACHI: The Ministry of Science & Technology has ordered the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) to urgently share details of all pending inquiries from the past three years by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Science & Technology as already required in its meeting held on 6th January 2025.

  The most immediate order issued on Thursday 23 January 2025 asked Director General PSQCA to furnish his compliance report on the relevant recommendations to the ministry by 27th January 2025 in the described format for its onward transmission to the National Assembly Secretariat after seeking approval of the Competent Authority. The compliance report demands details of recommendations/ directives of the Standing Committee and action taken by the Ministry/ Organization. According to information the Standing Committee on Science & Technology has desired that the Minister of Science and Technology may attend the meetings of the Standing Committee for useful discussions and decisions during the proceedings of the meetings. The Committee also recommended expediting the process of appointment of permanent heads for the institutions under the purview of Ministry of Science and Technology, including the PSQCA, to ensure efficient functioning. The Committee recommended for provision of a comprehensive report on all current additional charge appointments, including details of officers holding multiple positions in the PSQCA.    .
