ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) regarding conduct of elections will be accepted. Speaking at election training event, ECP Secretary Umar Hameed said that electoral watchdog was facing challenges. He expressed his determination that media will not have any problems regarding coverage of elections.

Timeline for printing election had passed, he said, adding that printing process had stopped due to lack of funds. Hameed said that electoral watchdog will take decision as soon as proceedings of apex court were over.

Earlier, Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed said that if nation did not support judiciary, democracy would be under cloud. Sheikh Rasheed said on social media website twitter that all parties were hell bent upon to sending Imran Khan behind bars or even taking his life. He said assembly which had no status was continuously insulting judiciary. Government was talking about sending Chief Justice on leave.

He said that country was in grave crisis. Rasheed said Imran Khan had no choice but to give call. What rulers are doing will backfire. Law and Constitution will emerge victorious and elections will be held. Government was going to take back authority of giving election date from President, he said.

Former Minister said that Election Commission’s job is to conduct elections and not to represent government. He said Parliament was going to be besiege Supreme Court. Rasheed said prince had time for coronation of King, not for solving serious problems of country.
