ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) declared acquisition of land for construction of Dadhocha Dam as legal. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah issued 12-page written verdict, declaring land acquisition for Dam near Rawalpindi as legal. "New estimate should be made to compensate land owners," court said.

"Notification can be issued in official gazette regarding provision of land for public good," it added. "Notification issued for acquisition of land for construction of Dam is in accordance with law," it ruled.

"Compensation for land owners should be estimated afresh under notification of acquisition of additional lands," it ordered. "Before re-estimating compensation, aspect of increasing value of land should be taken into consideration," it added.
