Saudi Arabia to restore five historical mosques related to Prophet’s era

Riyadh: Government of Saudi Arabia has decided to restore five historical masajid related to era of Prophet (PBUH) in Makkah region on directives of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, local media reported. Project for Development of Historical Mosques aims to highlight Saudi Arabia's rich culture, protect and renovate masajid, prolong their lifespan and maintain their architecture that has been affected by changing climate over past centuries.
Al-Baiah Masjid, built by Abbasid Caliph Abu Jafar Al-Mansour near Jamarat Al-Aqaba in Mina is first masjid to be developed in Makkah as part of second phase of project, Arab News reported quoting Saudi Press Agency. Two masajid in Jeddah-Abu Inbeh Masjid in Harat Al-Sham and Al-Khadr Masjid on Al-Dhahab Street in Al-Balad neighbourhood are also part of renovation project. Abu Inbeh Masjid was built more than 900 years ago while Al-Khadr Masjid around 66 kilometers from Grand Masjid in Makkah was built around 700 years ago. Al-Fath Masjid in Al-Jamoum area is also set to be developed under project. Prophet (PBUH) is said to have prayed at this masjid during year he conquered Makkah.
Al-Jubail Masjid, which was built more than 300 years ago is also part of project and its post-renovation area will be 310 square meters.
