As the world celebrates International Women's Day, a multitude of voices, both local and international, resonate in unison to honour and acknowledge the strength, resilience, and achievements of women worldwide.
Taking to Instagram, Sarwat Gilani shared a post that read, "Next time you think of beautiful things, don't forget to count yourself in." Furthermore, she added in the caption, "Celebrating the inspirational, determined and dedicated women all around the globe who achieve the in-achievable every single day. We celebrate you today and every day."
Model Eman Suleman shared a reflective and poignant post, questioning the significance of celebrating women amidst an ongoing, one-sided war in which women are suffering. "It's International Women's Day," stated the post she shared on her Instagram Story. "25,000 women and girls have been killed in Gaza. Where is the rage? Where are the hashtags? Where are the Western feminists?" questioned the image.
In a similar vein, musician Arooj Aftab reminded one and all about the reality with which we must all deal. "Happy International Women's Day!" she wrote on her IG Story. "Friendly reminder that in 2024, no woman in the world is free, no woman is treated equally and certainly no woman is safe. Thanks!" said the singer.
Actor Adnan Malik shared multiple posts on his IG Story on the occasion. His first story was a reposted share which stated, "On International Women's Day, we must recognise the indiscriminate suffering and injustice inflicted on Palestinian women and girls. We must also not forget their strength and courage amidst the horrors of occupation. May we always stand beside them. May they achieve everlasting freedom."
Actor Iffat Umar joined the line of celebrities wishing others on the occasion. She shared an image that stated, "Happy Women's Day! Always keep your face forward to the sunshine with pride and dignity."
