Sandra Bullock has issued a warning to her fans about online scammers impersonating her on social media. The actress, known for films like Two Weeks’ Notice, expressed concern for both her family’s safety and the individuals being exploited by these fraudulent accounts.
Bullock clarified that she does not participate in any form of social media and that any accounts claiming to be her or associated with her are fake and created for financial gain. The warning follows a message from her younger sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, who revealed the disturbing number of fake accounts impersonating Sandra online. Gesine shared her frustration with the situation, stating that she frequently reports these accounts and receives disturbing emails from men believing they have a personal connection to Sandra through one of these fake profiles. Despite reporting the accounts to both online platforms and Meta representatives, the fraudulent accounts remain active.
Gesine Bullock-Prado also emphasized that the account she actively uses is her sole social media presence, focusing primarily on her hobbies such as baking, cooking, animals, and gardening. She urged followers to be cautious and mentioned a similar scam where scammers, posing as actor Brad Pitt, deceived a French woman out of over $800,000 by convincing her they were romantically involved and in need of financial assistance for medical bills. The woman admitted that while initially skeptical, her limited experience with social media made it hard for her to tell the difference between legitimate and fake accounts.
