Veteran actress Samina Ahmed has shared an intimate account of her decision to marry at an advanced age, revealing how her children were initially stunned by the news.
In an interview with renowned journalist Maliha Rehman, Samina recalled the moment when she broke the news to her children, who were living abroad at the time. Her children’s initial reaction was one of confusion and surprise, with one asking, “What happened to Amma?”
Samina explained that the decision to marry was one that ended her feelings of loneliness, especially given that her children live far from her. “I feel like there is someone waiting for me when I go back to my empty house,” she shared, describing the emotional warmth that came with her marriage.
The actress added that her relationship with her husband, actor Manzar Sehbai, has become a strong pillar of support, bringing them both a sense of companionship.
The couple’s wedding, which took place during the COVID-19 lockdown in April 2020, came as a surprise to many. Samina revealed that Manzar proposed to her after a long day of shooting, saying he wanted to marry her. Although the two had played husband and wife in various dramas before, Samina never imagined they would tie the knot in real life.
“My children were surprised, but they were supportive,” Samina shared. “Manzar’s family probably felt similarly, but they never asked me about it.” The actress emphasized that their marriage, though unexpected, has brought both joy and balance to their lives, especially during the difficult and isolating months of the pandemic.
Despite their age, Samina and Manzar have proven that love and companionship can blossom at any stage in life. Their story serves as an inspiring reminder that it’s never too late to find happiness and companionship, even in the most unexpected places.
