Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Secretary General Salman Akram Raja rejected rumours surrounding the health of party founder Imran Khan.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Raja said: “Imran Khan had undergone a routine check-up and was in perfect health. There is no truth in the claims about him being denied sehri or being restricted from praying,” he stated.

Regarding the legal matters concerning Khan’s imprisonment, Raja revealed that Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, had appointed Chaudhry Zaheer Abbas as their lawyer. He mentioned that Faisal Chaudhry had been directed to hand over all petitions to Chaudhry Zaheer. Raja expressed regret, stating that it was unfortunate some individuals had tried to enhance their political stature by using the legal profession. “Whoever the founder assigns responsibility to, that person will handle the politics,” he affirmed.

He also announced that Niaz Ullah Niazi had been appointed as the official spokesperson for Imran Khan, while Bushra Bibi had selected four focal persons.  On the subject of the opposition alliance, Salman Akram Raja confirmed that discussions had taken place but refrained from providing full details. He stated, “We respect Maulana Fazlur Rehman and hope he will join the alliance.

The founder has given instructions regarding Maulana, which I will convey to him.” Raja condemned the recent statement by Barrister Saif as irresponsible and instructed Sheikh Waqas Akram to inquire why such a statement had been made.
