LONDON: Reflecting on his recent injury, Pakistani batter Saim Ayub acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his recovery, admitting he is unsure how long it will take to regain full fitness.
Speaking from London, where he is receiving treatment for a ankle injury sustained during the Test match against South Africa in Cape Town, Ayub clarified that he does not agree with the idea that the entire team depends solely on him. “I don’t believe the whole team depends on me,” Ayub stated, emphasising that it is impossible for one player to secure a win for the team. When asked about the heightened expectations following his recent centuries, Ayub stressed that cricket is a team sport and that no single player can carry the burden of responsibility. “To win a match, every player’s contribution is essential. Every player needs to give their best,” he added, underlining the importance of collective effort in achieving success. Ayub, who suffered an ankle injury during the match against South Africa, is currently receiving medical care in London. Ayub also requested the nation’s support as he undergoes treatment. “I hope the nation prays for my speedy and complete recovery,” he added.
