Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has been appointed as National Ambassador for child rights by United Nations Children’s Fund. This significant announcement comes just ahead of International Day of Girl Child, which aims to highlight girls’ rights and myriad challenges they face.

Expressing her gratitude for role, Qamar said, “It’s an honour to join UNICEF. I am committed to promoting our shared mission of ensuring every child’s rights, wherever I am.” She emphasised her dedication to empowering children and youth of Pakistan, allowing them to dream and achieve those dreams.

As UNICEF’s Ambassador, Qamar will leverage her platform to raise awareness about critical issues affecting children’s rights in Pakistan. Among these challenges is alarming prevalence of child marriage, which remains one of most significant barriers to girls’ rights in country.

Qamar’s appointment marks pivotal moment in advocacy for children in Pakistan, as she aims to inspire change and mobilise support for initiatives that protect and uplift young lives. Saba Qamar is poised to make meaningful impact as she champions rights of nation’s children, ensuring they have opportunity to thrive and succeed.
