SA hails SC opinion in ZA Bhutto case

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly passed unanimous resolution, hailing Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan’s opinion on presidential reference in Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case.
As per details, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presented resolution which was also supported by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Jamaat-e-Islami and Sunni Ittehad Council.
“This house embraces historical opinion of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Presidential reference filed 12 years ago by President Asit Ali Zardari to reopen case of death sentence of 1st elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
As per opinion of Supreme Court of Pakistan 45 years ago, during rule of Military dictator, when Shaheed Zulfikar All Bhutto was sentenced to death, justice and fair trial were not granted in accordance with Constitution,” resolution read.
“This Assembly demands Sindh government to approach Central government that Shaheed Zulifqar all Bhutto should be declared National Democratic Hero. This House demands from federal government to officially declare Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as Shaheed.
Also, Nishan-e-Zuffikar Ali Bhutto should be awarded to political workers and activists who have fought and sacrificed their lives for democracy,” resolution added.
