KARACHI; Rupee registered marginal decline, depreciating 0.06 percent against dollar in inter-bank market. At close, domestic unit settled at 278.66, loss of 0.16 paisa, against greenback.
Globally, dollar and yen kept within close ranges on Tuesday as traders awaited key central bank decisions, kicking off with midweek monetary policy meetings from Bank of Japan and Federal Reserve that could set tone for coming weeks. Dollar index, which measures currency against basket of peers, was little changed at 104.56. Oil prices, key indicator of currency parity, steadied on Tuesday near its lowest levels since early June as worries about demand in China were balanced by government pledge of policy measures for economy and prospect of lower US crude and product inventories. Brent crude rose by 8 cents, or 0.1 percent, to $ 79.86 a barrel.
