Karachi: Rupee gained value against dollar in interbank trading after government took measures to fulfil prerequisites for unlocking critical $ 1.1 billion International Monetary Fund tranche.
In interbank market, rupee closed at 265.38 after gaining 1.96 or 0.74 percent against dollar, up from yesterday’s close of 267.34, according to State Bank of Pakistan’s data.
Capital market expert Saad Ali said that steps taken by government led to optimism about resumption of IMF programme which will help rebuild country’s forex reserves through multilateral and bilateral assistance.
