ISLAMABAD: Coalition parties in government taking unanimous decision not to participate in upcoming by-elections Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said, “Riot party” should contest by-elections and come to assembly.
Decision has left field wide open for Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to make comeback to National Assembly. In statement issued to media, she criticised PTI, labeling it “Riot party” and claiming that it was unclear about what it wanted to do, go to court, go to assembly, or go to election. She further added that PTI had history of going to courts to accept resignations, only to later refuse to accept them.
Aurangzeb also questioned PTI’s motives for wanting to contest by-elections, asking why party had resigned from assemblies in first place if it was willing to participate in polls. She argued that country should not be allowed to fall prey to chaos of single person, in an apparent reference to PTI Chief Imran Khan.
