‘Ruling alliance bigwigs pledge to revive economy’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman exchanged views on matters related to national and political affairs.
PM Sharif said that coalition government is paying full attention to economic affairs of country. He added that government will announce relief package for nation soon. The key allies discussed the overall political situation, economic challenges, delay in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan money, relief expected in the shape of ‘foreign investment’ from friendly countries, upcoming elections, flood relief operations and government’s strategy to regain its lost political capital.
The bigwigs of the ruling alliance also contemplated on the situation arising after PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
They discussed about the next elections, possibility of holding talks with PTI and if the government should submit a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi or opt for polls. A JUI-F leader disclosed that the Maulana was still adamant that there should be no talks with the PTI chairman, saying tabling a no-confidence motion against the Punjab CM was not the top priority right now.
Referring to the announcement that Pakistan would receive oil from Russia at a discounted rate, the leader said that foreign investment would also coming to the country soon and matters would start becoming better.
Moreover, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah called on PM Shehbaz Sharif here. During meeting, political situation of country and rehabilitation work in flood-affected areas of Sindh were discussed.
They agreed to further strengthen coordination between federal government and provincial government of Sindh for public welfare and development. Earlier, it was learnt that allies of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz had opposed to hold talks with Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Stance adopted by allies increased difficulties of ruling PML-N as they opposed to hold dialogues with PTI Chief Imran Khan. PTI Chairman had conditionally offered to hold dialogues with incumbent government if it announces early elections. Sources told that Fazl and Awami National Party opposed to hold negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Moreover, Pakistan Peoples’ Party rejected to dissolve Sindh Assembly before completing its tenure. Balochistan Awami Party also rejected proposal to dissolve Balochistan Assembly, sources added.
