IT is set of tools, processes, and methodologies (such as coding/programming, data communications, data conversion, storage and retrieval, systems analysis and design, systems control) and associated equipment employed to collect, process, and present information. In broad terms, IT also includes office automation, multimedia, and telecommunications.
The term Marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders.
CRM, digital marketing, Internet marketing and mobile marketing are some main functions of marketing
CRM ( CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT):
Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”) is a strategy for managing all your company’s interactions with current and prospective customers. CRM enables your company to increase productivity, close more business, and improve customer satisfaction and retention.
DIGITAL MARKETING:
The promotion of products or brands via one or more forms of electronic media. For example, advertising mediums that might be used as part of the digital marketing strategy of a business could include promotional efforts made via the Internet, social media, mobile phones and electronic billboards, as well as via digital and television and radio channels.
INTERNET MARKETING:
This type of marketing uses various online advertisements to drive traffic to an advertiser's website. Banner advertisements, pay per click (PPC), and targeted email lists are often methods used in Internet marketing to bring the most value to the advertiser. Internet marketing does not simply mean building a website or promoting a website.
Somewhere behind that website is a real organization with real goals. e.g., AMAZON.COM, DELL.COM.
MOBILE MARKETING:
Mobile marketing is the interactive multichannel promotion of products or services for mobile phones and devices, smartphones and networks. Mobile marketing channels are diverse and include technology, trade shows or billboards. Mobile marketing is similar to electronic advertising and uses text, graphics and voice messages.
Types of mobile marketing includes Mobile Marketing via SMS, Mobile Marketing via MMS, mobile Marketing via Bluetooth, Mobile Marketing via Infrared, Mobile Web Marketing
Other areas of marketing that requires IT to function include Big Data, Marketing Automation (including web personalization and behavioral email marketing) and improving website design. In 2013, digital media overtook TV as the top advertising medium. Thus, the role of IT in marketing continues to grow. With technology advancing rapidly, the importance of IT will keep pace
